Jump-Box Opens November 21: Reusable Moving Box Rental Comes to Greater Vancouver

Moving in Greater Vancouver is about to involve a lot less cardboard. On Saturday, November 21, 2026, Jump-Box opens for bookings. We rent sturdy, reusable plastic moving boxes, deliver them to your door, and pick them up from your new home once you've unpacked.

If you've ever spent a moving week hunting for boxes, wrestling with a tape gun and then staring at a mountain of flattened cardboard in the recycling room, this one is for you. Below we explain what Jump-Box is, exactly how renting moving boxes works, what's included, what it costs and where we deliver. We'll also show you how to get on the waitlist so you can book first.

Jump-Box: moving boxes, minus the cardboard. Opening November 21, 2026 in Greater Vancouver

What is Jump-Box?

Jump-Box is a moving box rental service for Greater Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. Instead of buying cardboard boxes, you rent rigid plastic moving totes for as long as you need them.

Here's the short version:

  • We deliver clean, sanitized boxes to your current home.
  • You pack and move at your own pace.
  • We pick up the empty boxes from your new address.

Every package includes a label for each box, at least one furniture dolly, and delivery and pickup. Packages start at $99 for a one-week rental of 16 boxes, which suits most studios and 1-bedroom suites. Larger homes have larger packages, and you can add extra weeks if you need more time.

The idea is simple. Moving shouldn't mean buying a pile of single-use boxes, taping them together and throwing them all out a week later. A reusable tote does the same job better, and then it goes on to help the next household move.

How renting moving boxes works, step by step

Renting boxes is new to a lot of people, so here's the whole process from booking to pickup.

How Jump-Box works: we deliver, you pack and move, we pick up

1. Choose your package

Tell us your move date and your home size, then pick a package. If you're not sure how many boxes you need, our free moving box calculator recommends one in three quick questions. As a rule of thumb, plan on about 12 boxes per bedroom.

Step 1: choose your package

2. We deliver clean boxes

Most people book delivery 5 to 7 days before moving day. That gives you enough time to pack calmly without the boxes sitting around for weeks. Your totes arrive cleaned, sanitized and nested inside each other, so 25 boxes take up a small corner of your hallway until you fill them. Your labels and dolly come with them.

Step 2: we deliver clean boxes

3. Pack at your own pace

There's nothing to fold and nothing to tape. Open a lid, pack the box, close it and add a label. We recommend packing one room at a time and writing the room each box is going to in your new home, not just what's inside.

Step 3: pack at your own pace

4. Move

Because every box is the same size and shape, they stack evenly on a dolly and in a truck. Loading is quicker, the stack is stable, and nothing at the bottom gets crushed. If you're paying movers by the hour, that tidy, square load helps.

Step 4: move

5. Unpack, and we pick up

Unpack at your own pace, nest the empty boxes inside each other, and we collect them from your new address on your pickup day. Most people schedule pickup 1 to 2 weeks after the move. Need longer? Add another week at any point before pickup.

Step 5: unpack, and we pick up

That's it. No trips to the store, no tape, and nothing to flatten or recycle at the end.

Moving week: the old way vs. the Jump-Box way

To see why we started Jump-Box, picture a typical moving week with cardboard.

The old way. You collect boxes from wherever you can find them, often in random sizes. You fold each one, tape the bottom, then tape it again because the first strip didn't hold. You pack it, tape the top and look for a marker that still works. On moving day the boxes don't stack evenly, a few of the bottom ones buckle, and one splits on the stairs. After the move, you cut them all open, flatten them, bundle them and haul them to recycling.

The Jump-Box way. Your boxes arrive at your door. You open the lid, pack, close the lid and stick on a label. On moving day, the boxes stack in neat columns on the dolly. After the move, you unpack, nest the empties, and we take them away.

On a 25-box move, skipping box assembly and cleanup can save several hours. That's time you can spend actually packing, sorting what you don't want to bring, or getting some sleep before the big day.

The parts of moving we set out to fix

When we asked people in the Lower Mainland about the worst part of moving, we heard the same answers again and again:

  1. Hunting for boxes. Free boxes from liquor and grocery stores come in random sizes, don't stack well and are often damp or dusty.
  2. Packing. Nobody loves it, but it's easier when you're not also building boxes.
  3. Taping it all shut. Tape guns jam, strips tear, bottoms give way at the worst moment.
  4. The cardboard pile afterwards. Flattening, bundling and finding room for it all in a condo recycling room.

Jump-Box was built around that list. We deliver the boxes, they close without tape, they stack evenly in the truck, and they leave with us when you're done. Packing is still yours to do, but we've taken the box hassle out of it.

Where we deliver

From November 21, Jump-Box delivers to and picks up from 22 cities and communities across the Lower Mainland:

Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, New Westminster, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Delta, Ladner, Tsawwassen, Langley, White Rock, Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, Abbotsford, Anmore, Belcarra, Bowen Island and Lions Bay.

Moving between two of them? No problem. We deliver to one address and pick up from the other, even across city lines. A Burnaby-to-Surrey move or a Vancouver-to-North Shore move works exactly the same way.

Who Jump-Box is for

Jump-Box works for almost any household move, but it's especially useful if you:

  • Live in a condo or apartment, where elevator bookings are short and recycling space is limited
  • Are moving in the wet months, when cardboard goes soft on driveways and in damp trucks
  • Have a busy week before the move and don't want to spend evenings building boxes
  • Want a lower-waste move without a pile of single-use cardboard at the end
  • Are using movers and want a fast, even load that doesn't waste paid time
